Dr. Majid Algwaiz

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources

Dr. Majid Algwaiz is an advisor to His Excellency the Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and is currently leading the Industry 4.0 program in the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. Under the Industry 4.0 program, Dr. Algwaiz aims to increase the competitive advantage of the Kingdom’s industries and expand existing value chains, while developing the technology supplier ecosystem.

Before joining the Ministry, Dr. Algwaiz worked for 20 years in the oil and gas industry where he led energy systems optimization and digital transformation programs. He also taught at the department of Industrial and systems engineering at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, a Masters degree in Operations Research from Cornell University, and a PhD in operations research from the University of Michigan. He is also the author of several technical papers and patents.
